Oral Surgery

Oral surgery is a special field of dentistry for patients with the need for surgical procedures. Some of these are:

• Impacted wisdom teeth need surgery to be removed because they are below the gum tissue. This causes swollen and painful gums, and can even cause infection.
• Dental implants are another common reason for oral surgery. If you have tooth loss, the oral surgeon can place a titanium implant that holds a crown or bridge.
• Improving the fit of your dentures can be done with oral surgery as well. The oral surgeon will do a bone graft or remove some bone that is causing your dentures to fit poorly.
• Facial injuries are usually fixed by an oral surgeon as well to fix broken bones and cartilage.
